Then there's Sam Boole (already a fan favorite) and well she also has good reason to be a Psychonauts Intern because well she's related to one of the Psychic Six and she is extremely skilled Zoolepathy and makes perfect sense for her to be there even without the potential nepotism. I have a theory regarding Norma that I wrote in another thread Norma Natividad, I know a lot of people aren't a big fan of her but she has been shown to be a master at Pyrokinesis also she is hard working and studious so again it makes perfect sense why she's there in the internship program with her sister. So it makes perfect sense why she would absolutely qualify for being an Intern in the Psychonauts, especially at a young age. Even the Psychic Six during the battle with Maligula needed technological assistance to even replicate the power. The other interns all said or did something slightly sarcastic or rude to Raz, except Adam.Lizzie Natividad (My personal favorite Intern) knows Cryokinesis which is a variation of Hydrokinesis and are both rare psychic abilities. He only tells him to watch out for the yoyo and that the intern program was full, information he thought to be true. Adam (who is SO UNDERRATED) in particular never says anything mean to Raz, even upon first meeting him. The rest of them seemed to become fond of Raz in their own teenagery ways. The only intern who I didn’t feel like genuinely had a change of heart after the hazing thing was Norma. I think there’s a joke hidden in the fact they are being taught by someone who’s last name is a play on the word foresight.

The rest of the interns seemed like irresponsible teenagers who weren’t thinking ahead of themselves. Think about what she said in Hollis’ level, when asked what she’s doing here: “Do you think I’m just gonna let you get ALL the extra credit points…?” That line right there spells out her entire motivation. She only acted for her own self serving desires the entire game, even after she says “sorry” to Raz. In my experience, the real bullies to worry about were always the ones like Norma. Bobby Zilch was not a triggering character for me, because no genuinely dangerous bullies in my childhood acted like he does. Maybe your opinion might adapt as you play more!Īs an autistic person, the hazing that Raz goes through, and the way Norma especially treats him brought up some C-PTSD flashbacks I didn’t even know I had. Kids are mean, sure just because they do bad things does not mean they aren't well-constructed characters. They also serve the ulterior purpose of demonstrating to Raz how remedial his abilities are in comparison to people who have been trained properly, which is something you don't really get from the ensemble cast of a psychic summer camp. The interns represent that slightly older class of psychics who have had time to refine their abilties and form a socially exclusive group, which is something Sasha actually says in-game. I personally find the interns just as refreshing as the rest of the new cast.īringing back Whispering Rock campers mightn't have made sense, given the change in setting. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion: not all characters are for everyone, of course. I would highly highly recommend finishing the game you'll get more of a complete sense of their arcs and usefulness if you have the entire context.
